Tenancy fraud

Tenancy fraud The demand for social housing has always been that there simply isn’t enough to help all those that need it.

Axiom is committed to assisting people with a genuine need for housing, which is why we need to be on the alert for tenancy fraud.

There are different types of tenancy fraud the most common being:

  • Unlawful subletting – where a tenant lets out their housing association/council property without the permission of their landlord
  • Obtaining housing by deception – when a person gets a housing association/council property by giving false information
  • Non-residence – where a tenant does not reside at the property provided by a housing association/council

The Cambridgeshire Tenancy Fraud Forum was formed in 2014 to tackle tenancy fraud.

In addition to Axiom members include Peterborough City Council, Cross Keys Homes, East Cambridgeshire District Council, Fenland District Council, Roddons Housing Association, Huntingdonshire District Council, Luminus Housing Association, Muir Group, BPHA.

As part of this group we will be working together to tackle tenancy fraud. Where it is identified, we will investigate further and appropriate action will be taken.

If you suspect tenancy fraud is happening in your area then please contact us.

Or call the Tenancy Fraud Hotline on 0800 952 0075.
