We aim to ensure that all our homes are built and maintained to a high standard. We also recognise that some of our residents have additional or special requirements and that residents’ needs change.
To help meet these needs residents can request minor adaptations, generally costing below £250 direct to us or via a health professional. Examples of minor adaptations include grab rails, lever taps, half steps and smoke alarms for people with hearing and sight impairments.
Major adaptations, generally costing over £250, such as level access showers, showers over the bath, stair lifts, extensions etc need to be requested by an occupational therapist (OT). The OT will assess individual requirements and eligibility for a Disability Facilities Grant (DFG).
We have a disability user group (DUG) that acts as an ambassador on disability matters and receives reports on our performance relating to adaptations. The group helps to shape our accommodation and the way in which we provide services to our customers.
