Community improvement fund

Axiom recognises that by working together with residents we can make a positive difference to people’s lives. So each year we set aside a fund for improving the appearance of our local environment and neighbourhoods.

The photo shows new communal raised beds (put forward by residents living at a Peterborough Extra Care Scheme).

All residents are able to apply for funding to help improve their local community.

Our community improvement panel (CIP) will consider all applications.  To help you to be successful in your application we have set out how this pot of money is administered.

You can also read CIP case studies on successful projects here or by selecting the page from the menu.

How the money is administered
The fund is split into separate pots as follows:

Pot 1—£17,000
Axiom Residents' Forum (ARF) oversees this pot, which is for all resident-led requests for estate improvements that will enhance local communities.

Pot 2—£17,000
ARF and Axiom oversee this pot, which covers works falling under:

  • Health and safety
  • Security
  • Lighting
  • ASB reduction
  • Some issues picked up from walkabouts, drop-ins or via complaints

Pot 3 - £17,000
Works in this pot are planned works which Axiom is responsible for as well as any concerns generated/put forward by staff.  For example by:

  • Housing Team
  • Project Managers
  • Service Managers (supported, sheltered and extra care)
  • Asset Management Team

There are two further funding streams:

  1. £39,000 for car parks and footpaths which are jointly overseen by ARF and Axiom
  2. £17,000 for projects received by applications from the Community Improvement Grant to improve accessibility to estates, projects and schemes which is overseen by the Accessibility Improvement Fund (previously know as the Disability User Group - DUG).
